Sidewalk Story No. 1 | Seniors & Safety

Our first Sidewalk Story comes to us from Josie. Her grandmother’s story is a testament to the importance of sidewalks and safe street crossings for our seniors. At 80 years old, JoAnn Carlson enjoyed a high quality of life by living and working in a walkable neighborhood. Safe, walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods are an important tool for keeping our aging population healthy, active and connected to the community. Unfortunately, older pedestrians are over-represented in intersection fatalities by a factor of more than two-to-one.
